Tamara Van Horne
Tamara is a Calgary-based artist who works in theatre because she enjoys impossible problems and people who talk with their hands. She’s an actor, producer, and currently serves as the Artist Services Manager at the Calgary Fringe Festival, where she spends the summer wrangling schedules, solving last-minute crises, and making sure artists have what they need to pull off the impossible. The rest of the year, she’s teaching classes, directing shows, and leading creative strategy as Senior Creative Director at the Out of Our Heads Arts Foundation.
Onstage, Tamara’s work ranges from classics (Picnic, The Children’s Hour, The Comedy of Errors) to contemporary indie plays (BYOB, Lost and Found, Recommend for Mercy), with film and voice work rounding out her resume. She trained at Company of Rogues Actor’s Studio, and with Milton Justice in New York, and she considers acting technique and a solid spreadsheet equally essential tools.
Offstage, she brings a performer’s instincts and a producer’s discipline to every project. She helps artists navigate the realities of self-producing without losing their momentum, or their minds. She’s not here to lean in, she’s here to take up space and bring other women with her.
