Why I Started the Out Of Our Heads Arts Foundation

Hi, I’m Ally.
I started writing and producing plays in the fourth grade. Back then, it was a way for me to process what I was going through. I was a shy kid, and the arts gave me a voice when I didn’t know how to speak up. Creating helped me heal—and once I found that voice, I didn’t want to stop using it.
Throughout my life, art has been my lifeline. Whenever I faced a challenge, I turned to writing, performing, and collaborating to work through it. I’ve often said, “Art saved my life. It saved my sanity.” I used to dream that if I ever came into a million dollars, I’d start an arts foundation to help others find that same sense of expression and healing.
Then one day, while writing another stage play to navigate a tough time, I thought—why wait?
I realized that it’s always been the women around me who I’ve turned to for inspiration, collaboration, and courage. And now, as I find myself in midlife, I’m meeting so many incredible women who want to learn something new, to create, and to finally explore the artistic side they’ve put off for years.
That’s when the Out Of Our Heads Arts Foundation was born.
We’re here to foster all forms of creative expression—writing, performance, visual art, and beyond. This is our time. Let’s do this—together.
